Welcome to my
website, "Kilted Life". On this website I plan to explore the
idea of unbifurcated alternative men's clothing such as the kilt,
both modern and classic style, as a feasible garment for every
day wear for a man in today's world.
For centuries, it has been
traditional in many cultures for men to wear such "skirt
like" garments, yet for some strange reason today the men
that wear such garments are looked upon as odd or even eccentric.
This is a stigma that those of us who dare to wear such garments
choose to accept and hope to change through changing the perception
of those who view wearing such garments as strange or wrong.
With the help of companies such as Utilikilts in Seattle Washington,
men are now given a garment that is tough enough to wear everyday
and still be comfortable. Other forms of alternative unbifurcated
men's clothing that I will touch on include garments such as
sarongs, bubu, caftans, kimono, sulu, and similar garments. These
garments come from such a rich and diverse mixture of cultures
that I hope to show how shortsighted a preconception of eccentricity
can be.
